Slow-Cooker Brisket

If you've always avoided making brisket because of how labor intensive it may seem, let us introduce a superhero: the slow cooker. This cut of beef benefits from the low-and-slow treatment, and using the slow cooker takes out all of the work—in fact, you'll barely lift a finger. Simply add all your ingredients, and in a handful of hours you'll have an extremely tender cut of beef ready to be served at your Hanukkah dinner or for any Sunday meal.

Ingredients


  • 3 lb. 

    beef brisket

  • 1 

    small white onion, sliced

  • 2 

    garlic cloves, smashed and peeled

  • 2 c. 

    low sodium chicken stock

  • 2 

    sprigs fresh thyme

  • Kosher salt

  • Freshly ground black pepper

Description

  1. Step 1Place all ingredients in slow cooker and season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook 6 to 8 hours on low, or until brisket is completely tender. 
  2. Step 2Remove from slow cooker to slice. Serve with jus.
